Our History
In the late evening after a Zyniecki family reunion, Ed and Lee’s children were relaxing around a campfire thinking of what to name the tobacco store their parents had just opened. Many names had been tossed around, but nothing seemed to fit. All of a sudden, brother John had it. “Edleez!” he exclaimed. “Get it? Ed and Lee Z.” Their father Ed from inside the house returned with “Good, now go to bed!” The rest is history.Today
Over 35 years later, after several renovations and additions, we have over 2,000 square feet of space, including a smoking lounge and the largest walk-in humidor in the capital region. Today the store is owned by Ed and Lee’s children Pam and John, honoring their parents every day by continuing their legacy.
On August 18, 1981, Edleez Tobacco opened its doors. In the beginning, Lee was the Queen of the castle. She opened the store every morning and ran the show until she was relieved by her children in the afternoon so she could go home and cook dinner for the family. Ed came in every day during lunch and after work to help out his wife, also to enjoy a cigar himself. All the children worked in the store, each having assigned jobs they performed them to a “T”. That was what Lee expected.
